When you're born in a Greek family you are taught how to cook an at very early age. The first pastry I learned was baklava, and my mom taught me my grandmother's recipe when I was a young teen. It's a great recipe, but it wasn't my recipe. Over the years I perfected my own recipe by doing simple things like grinding the walnuts more to give it a better taste. I also experimented with every type of honey I could get my hands on until I came up with the perfect tasting syrup. Premium spices also make a big difference, and I use spices exclusively from Penzeys Spices.

I grew up cooking in my family's restaurant and continue to work there part time. Even though cooking is not my full time job anymore, I cook at home for my wife and twin daughters all the time. Cooking meals and baking treats is a great way to spend time with young children. I have baked my baklava for friends and family for many years. After much encouragement I decided to start selling it online through eBay and this website in September of 2009. Being able to share my favorite dessert with anyone who wants to try it has been a blast!
